Breaking with the "soft bigotry of low expectations"
This is beautiful music to my neocon ears--one of the central reasons I am proud to say I voted for President Bush.

So, let's see. You used to call yourself a liberal. But things changed after 9/11, and now you're not sure what to call yourself anymore. Try "neo-neocon" on for size.

I still shutter at the thought of a Kerry win in 2004.
Oops, make that "shudder".
Yes, wonderful music it is. You never know, you might be reading more of these stories as progress is made.
Neo-neocon, I echo your sentiment and George W. Bush was not just my first Republican vote, but by far the most important and significantly profound vote I have ever cast. In fact I doubt I will ever cast a more important vote in my life.
Me, too. Also was quite proud when he snapped back to reporter, "No, I don't think a news story makes people want to kill; I think a backward ideology makes people want to kill."

RIIIIIGHT. You make it sound like the media created that perception and Bush was dispelling it. His press secretary had just spent DAYS basically saying Newsweek has blood on its hands, and the reporter was trying to get him to confirm it. Like always, he lets other people do his dirty work.
