Beautiful day
I've been out most of this beautiful day, and now I'm going to take a pizza over to my mother's. So I'll just say see you tomorrow, with Part IV--the final one in the series, I think.
So, let's see. You used to call yourself a liberal. But things changed after 9/11, and now you're not sure what to call yourself anymore. Try "neo-neocon" on for size.

With the President present, Stephen Colbert roasts George W. Bush at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner:
part1
part2
part3
I hope your Mother is doing well -
Goesh: not all that well, but well enough.
She liked the pizza.
I think the better joke would be about Rocky 2, in which Rocky kept opening himself up to blows and saying "hit me" "hit me".
Everyone is wondering what the hell Rocky is doing, taking such a pounding without rope a doping or blocking or hitting back.
But Rocky was just getting fired up. He saying "bring it on", whatever damage you do I'll return a thousand fold. Rocky got "powered up" so to speak.
Well, it would have been a better joke if the audience was a bunch of "come back kid" regular joes, that is. Wouldn't have workded for the White House corres.
Stunt doers and extreme sports players know that adrenaline and endorphine high, so it wouldn't be very funny for the white house diners.
Could be Rock 3, but I think 3 was the Russian guy and 2 was the black champion.
A lot of Colbert's jokes need fixing up.
For example, his reparte about the government that governs least, is the one that governs well? He said Iraq is that way. Obviously he means the lack of government has produced violence, not the good.
But looked at another way, Iraq has a higher economic growth as to their GDP than the US. Iraq has a flat tax, and the US does not.
Iraq is the Model, and it is precisely because they govern the least, unlike fake liberal big govs, that has produced the economic growth.
The military was expected by iraqis to govern and put down the boot like Saddam did. The US Military were not trained to go into countries and take them over lock stock and barrel, and make them into their own personal fiefdoms, so obviously they failed when those that they liberated demanded to be put under the US Boot heel.
Colbert would be a lot more funny if he recognized, openly and without lying, the actual subtleties in his jokes, and not hammer about like a guy with beer muscles.
"I believe in this president. Now, I know there's some polls out there saying this man has a 32% approval rating. But guys like us, we don't pay attention to the polls. We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in 'reality.' And reality has a well-known liberal bias."
Everyone in the press thinks polls reflect the reality of the proles. The intellectuals would have no "moral support" if they couldn't use polls to justify them, they sure as heck aren't elected.
